Volunteer Firefighter

I have been thinking about volunteering my time to become a firefighter for quite some time now. On Tuesday, the 22nd of January, I had a meeting at the West Fairview Firehouse. It was great to meet the Chief, Deputy Chief and a few of the volunteer firefighters that night. They explained what is involved in becoming a volunteer firefighter in my township. There is about 188 hours of training required. The training is broken up to so many hours per month. I filled out my application and will be starting my training shortly after my new baby is born. It should be early May to June when I am able to start training. I am looking forward to helping with events and helping to protect our community. Our township, and many other townships, could use more people to come out and volunteer. Please consider calling your local firehouse to ask how you can help.

Martin Luther King, Jr.

I was recently surprised to have my oldest son come home and tell me all about Martin Luther King, Jr. I was impressed with the detail he was taught in school. It got me thinking about that period in history and set me on a mission to re-read some things that should remain at the front of every parents, or citizens for that matter, mind, but for whatever reason they tend to float to the back.
