NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta is now publicly available. This Aqua version of
OpenOffice provides a native look and feel, far better than version 1.x ever achieved. I have been using it for a while for all of my document editing needs (I joined the earlier beta program) and recommend it as a replacement for NeoOffice 1.x or any other obsolete non-ODF supporting software you may be using on the
Mac.
One of the most common complaints were the horrible (on any platform, but especially grating to Mac users) open and save dialogs. These dialogs now look and feel native.
My only remaining complaint is the dialog box that pops up after printing; these settings should be selectable elsewhere and should not require the user to click 'ok' on each print job. There are a few other minor quibbles on widget placement and overlap issues, but nothing I haven't seen on other OS X applications, and certainly nothing to keep me from heartily recommending this suite to anyone who needs an office suite for productive purposes.
